Assisted Breathing Technique

This is a healing session in which you support your client into deeper fuller breaths, It is very relaxing. You can also use it as the beginning of a longer session such as medical qigong.
The Set Up
One client lies down on their back and the facilitator sits at the side.
Facilitator raises their hands to the heavens and calls down divine light, offering themselves as a channel.

The Session
1. Belly. Facilitator places their hands over the belly. One hand on each side, like holding a ball. Feel the chi ball. Invite the client to breathe in the belly. Exert a little pressure by pushing slightly to meet their breath.

2. Torso. Facilitator places one hand on the top of the chest and the other stays at the lower belly. Invite client to fill the belly and up into the chest. You are supporting the full torso breathing.

3. Diaphragm. Facilitator holds hands over the rib cage on the left and right sides of the body. Encourage the client to breathe into the sides. This is more tricky, but it opens up the diaphragm.

4. Kidneys. Facilitator reaches all the way around to tuck the hands under the ribs and hold the kidneys. You have to lean over to reach! Hold the kidneys and encourage the client to breathe into the kidneys, expanding into your hands.

5. Rocking the body. Facilitator gently rocks the body side to side. Find the rhythm that feels natural for this body. This should relax any holding patterns that they have and lull them into deeper relaxation.

6. Completion. Bring hands back to the belly and just "listen" to the flow of their breath as they breathe. Do this for a while, then slowly lift your hands off the body and leave them to integrate for a few minutes.

This session is a great foundation for any other work you do. It cane make the client detoxify so always suggest they drink plenty of water and stay rested after the session.
